About Wheels on the Bay

Ontario highway through autumn landscape

Wheels on the Bay started as a simple idea: create the kind of driving resource we wished existed when we first started navigating Ontario's roads. Not the generic, one-size-fits-all advice you find everywhere online, but practical guidance rooted in real experience with our specific conditions.

Ontario driving is its own thing. We deal with some of the most dramatic seasonal swings anywhere in North America. From ice storms in January to construction season traffic in July, from salt-ravaged undercarriages to pothole-damaged suspension, our vehicles take a beating that drivers in milder climates simply don't understand.

What We Cover

Our content focuses on four main areas:

  • Seasonal Driving — Practical advice for handling Ontario's weather, from winter storm driving to summer road trip preparation.
  • Tires & Maintenance — Straightforward guidance on keeping your vehicle in good shape, with a focus on what actually matters for longevity and safety.
  • Buying & Ownership — Real talk about the costs, decisions, and processes involved in vehicle ownership in Ontario.
  • Local & Lifestyle — Road trip ideas, scenic driving routes, and guides for exploring Ontario behind the wheel.

Our Approach

We write for regular drivers, not gear heads or car enthusiasts (though you're welcome here too). Our goal is to help you make better decisions about your vehicle, save money on maintenance, stay safe in tough conditions, and maybe discover a few great drives you haven't tried yet.

Everything we publish is based on real-world experience driving in Ontario. We don't write about things we haven't dealt with ourselves, and we don't recommend products or services we wouldn't use.

If you have questions, topic suggestions, or just want to share your own Ontario driving experiences, we'd love to hear from you.
